The Department for Education approves Applegarth joining The STEP Academy Trust

Applegarth Academy Logo_Page_1Following an application made by the Governing Body of Applegarth School to become an academy sponsored by The STEP Academy Trust, the Secretary of State for Education has agreed in principle to the proposal.  There will now be a period of wider consultation before the school becomes Applegarth Academy on the 1st April 2013.

Details on how to get involved in the consultation have been posted on Applegarth School’s website.

The STEP Academy Trust officially recognised by the DfE as an academy sponsor

Following a thorough assessment process, during which The STEP Academy Trust’s expertise, track record and capacity were considered, the Department for Education has officially approved STEP as an academy sponsor. The designation will make resources available for the Trust to extend its support of vulnerable schools.

We are pleased that the DfE is supportive of The STEP Academy Trust sponsoring Applegarth School. The school community is currently consulting over  the proposal.

New partnership with Applegarth School

Following The STEP Academy Trust’s successful relationship with Applegarth Junior School, the Trust has been asked to extend its partnership to include Applegarth Infant School. From September 2012, the Infant School will be extended to incorporate the Junior School, creating an all-through primary, Applegarth School. The STEP Academy Trust Board of Directors has agreed to extend the supportive partnership to the new school, with Paul Glover continuing as Headteacher.  Later this academic year, Applegarth School community will consult over whether to or not to convert and join The STEP Academy Trust.
