Asanka de Silva is a senior finance executive with over 25 years of international leadership experience across banking, financial services and complex regulated organisations. He has held strategic finance leadership positions including CFO, strategy planning and transformation roles within major global institutions, bringing expertise in financial oversight, governance, regulatory compliance, risk management and large-scale operational transformation and performance.
Alongside his executive career, Asanka has supported the development of young people and professionals through mentoring and advisory work, independently and his work with the Cranfield Trust, reflecting a strong commitment to leadership, opportunity and community impact. As a Non Executive Trustee of STEP Academy Trust, he brings a commercial, disciplined and values-led approach to finance and operations oversight in support of the Trust’s mission and long-term sustainability.
Asanka became a trustee at STEP in September 2026. He is the Chair of the Finance & Operations Committee and a member of the Opportunities, Risk and Audit Committee and the Pay Committee.
