Amy Barron, Non-Executive Trustee

Education Committee Member, Safeguarding Lead

Amy is presently Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Corporate Services) at The Pensions Ombudsman. As a co-founder of the Women's’ Staff Network at TPO, she is passionate about addressing inequality and promoting the interests and ambitions of female colleagues. She has fifteen years of senior leadership experience across the public, private and voluntary sectors. This includes working for the Regional Schools Commissioner for East Sussex, in 2018, where she was first introduced to the great community of STEP academies by visiting Phoenix and Whitehouse Academies in Hailsham. She has also worked as a School Business Manager in Maidstone and Glasgow, delivering capital maintenance projects, tendering catering services and maximising financial resources. More widely, Amy has worked as a volunteer and then Deputy Governor in Kent prisons and it was in this role she completed a Masters in Criminology at Cambridge University and first developed a keen interest in ensuring the safeguarding of vulnerable people.
